Let's Eat.

With Turkey Day just one day away, most of you are probably all squared away with your recipes and your shopping and you're ready to get your cook on. Yeah, not me. I only have to contribute one dish to a family meal and rather than doing any prep work yesterday, the only thing I prepared for tomorrow's big meal, was my stomach, by stuffing it last night with creamy pasta and red wine. Fortunately, the hubs is the real cook around here, and he's off today, so he and the boys will likely be experimenting in the kitchen and destroying my house while I'm at work, as per usual.

However, were I not so fortunate, I would definitely be referring to some of the ridiculously delicious-looking recipes by way of the blog/food porn site, Vanilla Sugar:

I'd love to post more pics of some of my favorite delectables there, like these quarter pound double chocolate cookies, but there are some copyright issues, so I'll just leave it all to you to take a gander yourself. Trust me, you won't be disappointed, but you will certainly be hungry.

Seeing Spots

These gorgeous pics from The Sartorialist have me jonesin' for some serious leopard:

Sadly, this beauty is no longer available at Talbots- it seems they have not forgiven me as I have not received my gratis size 6 in the mail as of yet. However, there is plenty of leopard left for me to get my fix over at Kate Spade, and these two items in particular have me feeling very fortunate that I have a birthday just around the corner.

leopard + gold + turqouise tights = gimme.

OK- so they're a little pricey as gifts go, but that's why I'll be stalking the sight like a hungry tiger until they go on sale. Duh.

Girls Will Be Boys

My personal style has always tended to lean towards the more feminine. I do love a good ruffle and I'm a total sucker for a bright floral. I once owned a pair of cargo pants, and every time I put them on, I was seriously just one sleeveless tee and a bad arm-band tattoo away from being the man in a lesbian relationship.

That said, I have resisted the urge to jump on the recent menswear bandwagon, but it's everywhere and impeccably styled looks like these from thestyleblogger.com and the likes of Olivia Palermo & EmersonMade, have me itching to swoop up some tweeds and some button-downs and give it a try:

So, I gave it a shot and added some of my signature florals and silkiness, by way of blouse. Enjoy!

All aboard.

You will have to kindly excuse my absence this week. I am currently on the barf bus to toilet city and I'm not sure when I'll be returning. Hopefully, very soon. Please don't forget about me.

I'd like to thank the academy...

Despite the fact that these ridiculously short days have me spiraling into a deep depression that has me avoiding the gym, eating carmel corn like it's my business and watching garbage on A&E instead of cleaning my house, I have actually come across my share of  exciting discoveries this week as well. Among them is the fact that the adorable Maria, author of the blog Layers of Meaning, has bestowed upon HMD the prestigious honor of "favorite blog" of the week.

I'd like to return the favor and have you all swing on over to Layers of Meaning and check out more of Maria's fabulous favorites. Among them?

and Lots of other goodies. Happy Friday.

It's so easy.

I've really been lagging on Operation Big Boy Bed, and it's practically just a matter of time before Hud has Playboy posters hanging over his crib. Alright,  he's only two-and-a-half, but the poor guy is looking a little cramped in there. It's time to step-it-up a notch, which means dedicating a solid chunk of my days to some serious Craigslisting. So, you can imagine my fortuitous delight when I stumbled across CraigsEasy, by way of DIY blogger and professional Craigslister, Michelle of Three Men and a Little Lady.

Here's the deal- no more mindless clicking forwards and backwards through every post - Craigs Easy- in just two little steps, allows you to enter your search criteria and scroll through a page of posts with all of the pics displayed. I mean, this totally made my day. I 'm guessing that maybe you all have more important things happening in your lives, but maybe, just maybe, I'll make your's too. check it out!

Aloha!

Sorry for the unannounced departure, but the fam and I decided to forgo the traditional neighborhood trick-or treating and jet on over to the Aloha state for Halloween this year. The trip seemed way too brief, but relatively relaxing and even somewhat enlightening- it seems that the Japanese have very loose definitions as to what qualifies as swim wear, but that's a story for another day...

I wish that I had all sorts of gorgeous photos to show off of the boys, contented and smiling amidst the tropical backdrops, but we are going through an interesting phase right now that involves screaming, weird under bites and angry eyes whenever I take out the camera, and typically ends in photos like this one:

Sometimes, even Batman deserves a time-out.

We did however, manage to miraculously snap one, and only one family photo the entire trip. Here is Ry and I holding our respective doppelgangers:

The majority of the other images had to be stealthily snapped while the boys were preoccupied with things like digging:

and consuming gratuitous quantities of ice cream:

and then, of course, there is the ultimate in captive photo ops:

Now, if you'll excuse me, it's been a rough couple of days back on the home front and I'm moments away from passing out myself.  Mahalo, Hawaii, for a beautiful week.
