Sunday, Funday

So, aside from the embarrassment endured while taking ridiculous photos of myself in public, I had a rather lovely day this past Sunday. My sister and I had been planning a trip to the Antique Fair at the old Naval Base in Alameda (held the first Sunday of every month) for some time, so we were delighted to see that the sun was in full force when we headed out bright and early at 7:30 am. We met with a good friend of mine who, by the time we arrived, had already scored quite a few items, including an autographed photo of Tony the Tiger.

Some of the times that I've gone in the past, I found myself on a mission for something in particular, but this wasn't a particularly purposeful trip, so we rambled about, drank coffee, ate fresh mini-donuts and just soaked it all in.

Among the spoils my sister claimed was a gorgeous cashmere blend sweater in a subtle melon color that we were told belonged to an eccentric Parisian woman (modeled by the lovely Ti Mcghee below) , and a vintage topographical globe.

I didn't end up buying anything, but there was certainly some trinkets that tickled my fancy. I'm pretty certain I could have found a million uses for some of these cool vintage buckets.
And this little guy on the upper left here, so desperately wanted to come and live on my bedside table.

And, once again, it's really for the best that I don't have a little girl, because I would have had no choice but to buy some of these metal hearts and hang them on her wall (how cute would that be??)
Wiener dogs were prevalent in all shapes and sizes, but I had to restrain myself..

Some restraint was also required when I came across this ridiculously large and wonderful gold owl pendant that reminded me a bit of Bubo, the robot owl from Clash of the Titans (in a good way- if that's possible). When we passed by Bubo's booth again on the way back, I was tempted to cave, but discovered that someone else had nabbed my wise little friend.

That someone else just happened to be a very awesome someone, my best friend Sara, who slipped him in the mail later that day. Bubo was in my mailbox when I got home this evening and I can't wait to throw him on a gold chain and take him out for a night on the town :) Thanks Savvy- you just keep comin' out on top as bestest.

Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera available at home tonight to take pics of my new little friend, but I have a feeling he'll be making an appearance soon! Stay tuned for Bubo's big debut.
